Great East Japan Earthquake information related to the Deaf

JFD launched the “Central Headquarters for Disaster Relief for Deaf People in the Great East Japan Earthquake” immediately after the earthquake struck on March 11th, 2011.

One year since Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami

Today marks the first year since the massive earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan on March 11, 2011. The entire world was shaken by the news of this devastating natural disaster.

The earthquake was so intense that we could barely stand on our feet and the enormous tsunami that followed washed away towns along the northeastern coast, destroying everything and killing thousands of people.   • Donations have been closed on 8 September 2012. Donated funds will be used for supporting deaf people who have suffered from the Earthquake and Tsunami, and volunteers including sign language interpreters.
