Back to earthquake information

We, the members of the Central Headquarters for Disaster Relief for Deaf People in the Great East Japan Earthquake, transported the relief supplies to Miyagi by van provided by The Nippon Foundation, by the request of Miyagi Regional Headquarters for Disaster Relief for Deaf People. These relief supplies were donated by the members of the Deaf Associations in Kanto Area. We left the Headquarters Office for Miyagi at 11:55, a.m., on 26th March, 2011.

The outline is as follows;

  1. 3 Transport staffs
    Mr. Yoshihara( Leader of Relief Supplies, Central Headquarters )
    Mr. Miyamoto( Leader of Support for the Deaf, Central Headquarters )
    Mr. Ehara( Sign Language Interpreter, Tokyo Sign Interpreting Service Center)

  2. Schedule: Saturday 26th March 2011 – Monday 28th March 2011
    The three transport staffs stayed until 28th March, in Miyagi. They helped the relief efforts by the Miyagi Regional Headquarters and did fieldwork for the future relief activities by the Central Headquarters.

  3. Transportation the relief supplies
    69 Cardboard boxes( Contents: Living necessities such as toothpastes, toothbrushes, underwear, socks, cosmetics, batteries, chargers for mobile phones, portable gas stoves, gas cylinders, towels, tissues, toilet papers, etc.)

We thank many people’s help despite of our urgent appeal for only two days. We got a message from Miyagi that these relief supplies would be enough for the present.

If relief supplies are requested from another area, we will be happy to provide further help.
